Why I love using my instagram!

Why I love using my instagram!

Hey it’s been a little while how are you all doing? I think for a while I’ve been a little lax on my blog and i’m sorry for that if you’re one of my subscribers! Anyway i wanted to update you all on where I’ve really been. I’ve been in the land of Instagram of course. I made a little Instagram for my blog a while back and i decided to use it a bit more and spend my time on there. It has been a absolute lifeline to me since this coronavirus pandemic because it’s enabled me to engage with so many lovely people. It’s been a really useful thing for me following new people such as other mums and getting to know them. Of course the element of comparison is there in the background but once you can get through that and see that everyone else is comparing aswell it gets so much better.

I have been lucky enough to meet a few other parents like me with my sense of humour and they have became friends, like my own online pen pals. We send gifs, support each other and laugh with each other everyday. While i am feeling stuck at home and alone i am able to sometimes escape to my little safe place and interact with my new little tribe. If i don’t feel that great there are loads of other mums feeling the same and we are all ready to build eachother up. i’ve found @hudsons_little_life and @mammabelle18 to be absolutely beautiful people who have brought thousands of mums together. It’s sometimes quite hard to meet other like minded people and these two have started weekly posts mums can take part in to meet other mums. I’ve found that the people i have engaged with from these have been really lovely people and it’s great to be able to follow other people and look into their lives.

I also enjoy looking at peoples play ideas, i’ve influenced so many of these ideas into elijahs play and at times where i have struggled with what to do it has been a lifesaver having whatever you need a hashtag away. It’s nice being able to shop with and support small businesses. To see the person on the other end of a business only makes me want to buy and promote their products that little bit more than perhaps using amazon or argos! Also i have been lucky enough to start collaborating with some businesses and it’s felt amazing to be believed in enough to promote a product. Who would of believed how social media can open so many fantastic doors!

It’s also great to find out what celebrities are doing and friends and family aswell. It’s become a place where mental health and health conditions can be normalised in a way where we don’t worry as much that friends and family see as it’s not on facebook where everyone you personally know is. It’s nice to explore others opinions and views and be supported by people that don’t know you so you feel more love than judgement!

So if you have instagram and would like to connect come find me and send me a dm!

my instagram of course is @lifewiththehazelwoods and you can also find my instagram in the menu!

Looking forward to connecting, Charlie….

How friendships can change when you’ve had children.

How friendships can change when you’ve had children.

Obviously you’ll loose some friends and make some new ones when becoming a parent but you never really accept it when you first see those two positive lines of a pregnancy test. You want to believe your friends are well just that “friends” and will be as excited as you when you have a child. But sometimes it goes quite the opposite way.

When you find out your pregnant everyone is so excited and they can’t wait to call themselves auntie this and uncle that, but when that baby’s popped out it’s unread messages and less interest. Maybe it’s jealously or just not wanting to be around a crying baby but you certainly see who really is and isn’t your friend. You’ve had a baby and instead of celebrating having another little friend to play with some friends go darting the other way.

You’re no longer available all the time. You’re tired and need to get childcare to go out at certain times. Some friends expect you to constantly have childcare when you see them like your child isn’t a part of you now. Conversations can run dry because you’re exhausted from sleepless nights and busy days. You don’t want to go out too long because you want to go to sleep early just incase your up all night. They get embarrassed when your kid tantrums at the dinner table and seem to think they know what’s wrong with your child and wishes you could shut them up instantly if they have a tantrum.

However you do make closer friendships with the ones who stay. You see them more, they become more family then friends as they’re accepted into your family unit for hanging out. Your friends may have kids too so you have play dates and get to watch the children grow up together aswell as you growing with them. Your friends gain another friend and it’s a joy to have them in their life’s.

Sometimes people come and sometimes people go but it’s the ones who stay that matter the most. If they’ve gone they where never really a friend if they cannot accept your family now.

We had a Halloween party!

We had a Halloween party!

As per my previous post on how I brought lots of cheep decorations for a little kids party we finally had the party last night and it went great!

We brought some food on Thursday and prepared the food overnight on Friday night and Saturday morning. I spent Friday night making spooky cupcakes and brownies and the morning making bits and bobs for the guests like hot dogs, sandwiches and more. We blew up a lot of balloons and Elijah helped (blew his hand) and threw them around the room. Elijah and I set up the tables and he brang me the decorations to put up it was quite nice working as a team.

The place looked quite nice and we just put some music in the background. We all dressed in fancy dress and had a blast doing it. Elijah loves his dinosaur outfit and will no doubt wear again. We didn’t do any games as the party was for toddlers and the oldest children where happy playing too. We just got all the toys out and the kids had a blast and let everyone help themselves to the buffet. The kids all had fun and played nicely and then we cleaned toys away and played with balloons. The children took balloons and candy home and had a fun time. It was nice as we had 9 children come so wasn’t too many people and wasn’t to hectic either!

By the end of the night when everything was cleaned away, we felt so loved to have such lovely friends. We where so greatful for all who also cooked and brought food for us all to share and had made such a effort to make them Halloween themed too! It went down a treat and a nice little party for all his friends and our friends too! We will do this again another year but for now just to relax and prepare for Elijah and his little friends birthday in a few weeks time.
